This Week- Rolling Away the Stone

This Week- Rolling Away the Stone

What might the stone being rolled away on Easter morning symbolize in our Unitarian Universalist lives and communities?

Join us this Sunday, April 5th, at 10:30am in Panabaker for our weekly Worship at Calgary Unitarians. This weeks topic will be Rolling Away the Stone.

We hope to see you there!

Cabaret Lite for One Night: Talent Call

Sign up today!

Cabaret Lite is coming up  on May 2nd and there is still room for a few more acts! Do you have a special talent or skill you never get to use? Or a song you’ve always wanted to sing? Or perhaps something entirely else out of the box! This year’s theme, ‘This is Me!’ is the perfect opportunity to showcase, well, YOU! Reach out to our new Music Director Matthew at  musicdirector@calgaryunitarians.ca and we’ll see how we can make it happen.

Deadline to have a dedicated time-slot is April 20th. There is currently open mic section for last minute additions, but don’t bet on it, because if there are enough scheduled acts, we might just close it off!

We look forward to exploring all your wonderful talents and skills!

Our Pets at CU Events

We love that our community members have furry, feathery, and scaly friends—but to keep everyone safe and comfortable, pets can’t join us at CU events. This helps everyone enjoy the space, including those with allergies or sensitivities.

We know your pets are part of the family, so give them a hug from us and maybe a treat while you’re at our gathering. We can’t wait to see you (and hear all about your pets) at the next event!

Booking a Room at Calgary Unitarians

Need a space for your group or meeting? Booking a room at Calgary Unitarians is easy! Just use our online room booking form on the Rentals page — this lets our team know if you need any AV support or childcare needs.

Members and Friends can also check out our full calendar of events through Breeze, so you’ll know what’s happening at CU at a glance. Our website shares upcoming events in a friendly, welcoming way, making it easy to stay connected with our community.

We’re excited to see our spaces filled with your gatherings, learning, and celebrations!

Between now and April 12

'Refresh your closet! This event will be free, and open to the public, with attendees welcome to bring their own clean donations on the day of the event. In anticipation of having tables with something to offer at the time doors open on April 18, clothing donations are being accepted at the church between now and April 12, and will be stored at the church. Help us live into our values by keeping usable clothing out of landfills, and keeping money in peoples pockets during these expensive times. Please contact Jen for more details.

Run Better Meetings: An Interactive Workshop

Run Better Meetings: An Interactive Workshop

Wednesday, April 29, 2026

Have you ever left a meeting feeling energized and clear about what comes next? Or… the opposite? Most of us have experienced both.

Strong, well-run meetings don’t happen by accident. They grow from thoughtful leadership, clear agendas, shared roles, and decision-making processes that honour our Unitarian Universalist values of collaboration, respect, and democracy.

Join us for a two-hour interactive workshop on how to run effective meetings in a UU setting. Together we will explore:

  • The key roles that help meetings run smoothly (chair, minute-taker, and more)
  • What makes a clear and effective agenda
  • What actually belongs in meeting minutes
  • How UU groups make decisions together
  • Practical tools for leading meetings that are engaging, respectful, and productive

This workshop will be hands-on and experiential. Participants will practice running short meetings, experiment with decision-making processes, and reflect together on how we can make our committees and teams work better for everyone.

Whether you currently chair a committee, take minutes, participate in meetings, or simply want to strengthen our shared leadership culture, this workshop is for you.

Come help us build meetings that support the work of our community—and make the best use of everyone’s time and gifts.

Please RSVP to Rev. Samaya

Contacting Rev. Samaya

You will usually find Rev. Samaya in her church office on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays – unless of course she has a meeting outside the church building. She typically answers emails (minister@calgaryunitarians.ca) first thing in the morning, so if you’d like a response faster than that, please feel free to contact her by text or phone (604-323-4341). Rev. Samaya is not in the office on Wednesdays as that is when she focuses on sermon writing.
