"We Are the Ones" – A Project by Our Former Music Director

"We Are the Ones" – A Project by Our Former Music Director

During the Alberta teachers’ strike, our former Music Director was inspired to bring people together through song. Feeling the frustration and powerlessness many shared, he remembered the unifying power of collective singing from past movements for justice. Drawing on Bernice Johnson Reagon’s We Are the Ones—itself rooted in the words of poet and activist June Jordan—he invited people across Alberta to lend their voices to a virtual choir in solidarity with teachers, students, and all who work for a more just and compassionate province. You can watch the project here:

Caring for One Another

Updating Your Emergency Contact Information

As a community of care, we do our best to look out for one another—especially in times of need. One simple way you can help us do that is by making sure your emergency contact information is up to date in our new database, Breeze. If something unexpected were to happen while you’re at the church or participating in a congregational event, we want to be able to reach someone you trust—quickly and compassionately. Taking just a few moments to update your information helps us live our values of care and connection. Please log in to Breeze and review your profile today. If you’d like a hand accessing or updating your information, contact jason@calgaryunitarians.ca - we’re happy to help.

Together, we keep this community safe, caring, and connected!
