This Week: The Lens of the Sacred

This Week: The Lens of the Sacred

How does the lens of the sacred shape how you see the world?

Join us this Sunday, November 23rd, at 10:30am in Panabaker for our weekly Worship at Calgary Unitarians. This weeks topic will be The Lens of the Sacred.

We hope to see you there!

Christmas Day Potluck: New Hosts, Same Holiday Spirit!

Christmas Day Potluck: New Hosts, Same Holiday Spirit!

Looking for new Volunteers to Host

This year, our annual Christmas Potluck is getting a little twist—and a lot of gratitude. Drawing inspiration from Chapter 3 of Serving with Grace, we are reminded that serving with grace often means knowing when to step forward… and when to step aside.

In that spirit, Eric Leavitt and Marsha Haug have graciously decided to move aside this year, creating space for someone new to host our beloved Christmas Potluck on Christmas Day. We are deeply grateful for the years they have poured their energy, creativity, and love into this event—keeping our community fed, connected, and occasionally challenged to sample Marsha’s mysterious-but-delicious casseroles.

Now, we are looking for someone (or a team!) to step forward and host this special gathering. Contact Rev. Samaya to discuss details. If no one comes forward, we won’t be able to hold the event this year, so this is your chance to help keep the tradition alive and maybe invent a few new twists of your own.

Serving with grace isn’t just about cooking or cleaning—it’s about making space for connection, laughter, and belonging. If you’ve ever thought, “I’d love to bring people together on Christmas,” now’s the time to act. Come forward, take the lead, and help our community share warmth, joy, and perhaps a second helping of pie this holiday season.

Caring for One Another

Updating Your Emergency Contact Information

As a community of care, we do our best to look out for one another—especially in times of need. One simple way you can help us do that is by making sure your emergency contact information is up to date in our new database, Breeze. If something unexpected were to happen while you’re at the church or participating in a congregational event, we want to be able to reach someone you trust—quickly and compassionately. Taking just a few moments to update your information helps us live our values of care and connection. Please log in to Breeze and review your profile today. If you’d like a hand accessing or updating your information, contact jason@calgaryunitarians.ca - we’re happy to help.

Together, we keep this community safe, caring, and connected!

Plan themes and service ideas for January through March - Saturday, November 29, 2025

As the new year approaches, our congregation gathers in many moods—hope, curiosity, longing, and sometimes heaviness. The Worship Arts Team invites you to help shape the services that will accompany and inspire our community for services in January, February, and March of 2026.

We’ll meet on Saturday, November 29th at 10 am in the Boardroom to brainstorm worship themes and service ideas for January through March. No experience or ongoing commitment is needed—just bring your ideas, creativity, and heart.

Together, we can imagine services that offer comfort, challenge, connection, and renewal for all. All are welcome!
